Brief Bio
Philippe Desfray is involved since 17 years in model driven development research, standardization, and tooling. Co-founder of the SOFTEAM company (650 people in 2013), he has been precursor to OO Modeling (inventor of the Class Relation OO model, 1990, supported already at that time by a case tool), to MDA (1994, Addison Welsey book on the matter, dedicated tool), one of the main contributor in the UML standardization team at the OMG since the origin, and contributing to many modeling language standardization eforts (BPMN, SOA, ...). Philippe serves as VP for R&D at SOFTEAM, is one key expert in the modeling and methodology fields, is driving international R&D projects and leading the Modelio UML/MDA case tool development team (www.modeliosoft.com; www.modelio.org).

During this period, he participated to research in CAD, PLM and KBE fields. Since 2007, Mr. Etienne Brosse is an R&D engineer from Softeam where he takes part of several French or EU research projects (MOMOCS, SHAPE, MADES, ENOSYS, Galaxy FITTEST) and for the OMG (Model Interchange Working Group and UML Testing Profile).

Abstract

Most of the time, Model repositories are at best at the "project" scale. But what about models at a very large scale, such as a large federated company, or a worldwide cooperation for a system between an ecosystem of companies and partners? The cooperation cannot be in a centralized scheme (such as in a Client server mode, on a big database). Models need to be decentralized, federated, connected and decoupled at the same time. Depending on the participant's expertise, models need to be filtered and presented differently. In a multi projects situation, model based projects need to be managed, and supported by a project portfolio view. This needs a new repository technology, not supported by traditional modeling tools. The model federation technology, called worldwide modeling, will be presented, with the Constellation model management solution on top of the Modelio tool. The issues and the solution will be presented, and a demo will show how Constellation solves the issues.
